freedom of expression

It is often said that the spice of life lies in variety, and after attending the 'freedom through music' event which showcased Palestinian musicians and home grown musical talent(including some sublime young jazz artists), i must concur. Life does seem a lot more intriguing than the usual 'shades of grey,' when confronted with the amazing variations of human expression life contains. An ayah of Quran comes to mind:

"O Mankind! Most certainly, it is We (God almighty) who have Created you all from a single (pair) of a male and a female, And it is We who have made you into nations and tribes, that ye may recognize each other. Verily, the noblest of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you." Holy Quran 49:13

the ayah, when thought of in the context of the subtle, technical, yet beautiful differences of Palestinian traditional music and that of local jazz, can only evoke this sentiment:

GLORY BE TO OUR LORD!
